Grow your audience: how to get traffic (free and paid methods)
A lot of people think that SEO can be a perfect way for a website to generate traffic. For most of us, however, search engine optimization could be our only way to improve search results and increase traffic. This can be a horrible thing. It is critical that you know how to expand the traffic that comes to your website and not rely solely on the optimization of search engines. Alternatively, if your primary source of traffic fails, it might mean the end of your business. In this article, we're going to take a look at how you can improve traffic on websites and blog posts without relying solely on SEO.
We'll look at a range of tactics you can put in place right now and how you can maximize each traffic source. By the end of this book, you would have the peace of mind you need to know that your site is not going to crash and burn, only because of a shift in the algorithm of Google. Let's start! Publishing a blog post on your website or translating an interview with an industry influencer into a blog post will help to drive traffic both through organic search and through the influencer who promotes the content to their public (see the backlinks section above).
This can also help add so much wide range to your content and show that you are active in your field to your visitors. Conversely, in their own review or round-up post, you could ask the influencer to mention your business. This technique is still free, but you still need to collaborate with the influencer to be an exchange with mutual advantage. You can also be a guest blogger. In your neighbourhood, identify complementary companies whose audience is relevant to your company. See if you can contribute a post with a link back to your website to their blog. Make sure that your content is relevant to their audience and helpful so that it is more of an even exchange.
If you hope that more traffic to your site will also result in more sales, as part of your paid search strategies, you will need to target significant economic intent keywords.
Yeah, it can be competitive (and expensive) to fight for these search keywords, but the payoffs can be worth it. That's not enough to create quality content and hope that the people find it, you have to be strategic. To promote your content, one of the best ways to improve traffic to your website is to use social media platforms. For fast, snappy (and tempting) links, Twitter is perfect, while Google+ promotion will help your site appear in customized search results and appears to be particularly successful in B2B niches. If you're a B2C product company, with image-heavy social sites such as Pinterest and Instagram, you could find great traction. More guidance on making the most of social media marketing is available here.
